Comfort Food Eggplant

Eggplants don't look a lot like eggs, but perhaps back when this purple produce was first named, eggs were very different? Did giant, violet chickens roam the lands of Ancient Briton, bestowing farmers with plump, purple eggs that begged such comparisons?

But no! The term, "eggplant," comes from a distant cousin of the eggplant that incidentally looked a heckuva lot like, yes, an egg! And the vagaries of time and bad language translation did the rest. So the next time a curious shopper asks you why an eggplant is so-named, you can either give them a long, historical explanation, or regal them with the tales of giant purple chickens! Your choice! 15 squishy inches of Italian Crazy Apple. All new polyester fiber, ages 3 and up only! comfortfood_eggplant new

I bought this adorable eggplant as a present for my boyfriend and we love it. It's huge, vibrant and ridiculously soft and IMHO it gets way less attention from the Squishable fans than it deserves. My bf called his one Aubert and he has an obnoxious yet adorable French accent when he has something to say. He has the perfect shape for hugging and the cutest most excited face ever. You'd never go wrong by getting one for yourself if you're considering it (also if you aren't? :D)!

A dear friend of mine posted this on my facebook page, knowing well that I have this strange obsession with collecting pomegranates and eggplants. So, naturally I had to purchase this cute little guy. Shipping was fast, and it arrived safe. He is super soft, and, of course, extremely cute. He now sits on my computer desk at work, sporting a santa hat and confusing my coworkers. :)
