Want to design a pillow instead? Come over here!
Ever thought about designing a Squishable? It's fun! There are a lot of talented designers in the Squishy Nation, and Project Open Squish is here to get your voices heard. Have a design you think might work? This is your chance!

Here's how it works: submit your design and, if it gets accepted, the Squishy Community will vote on which will go on to prototype! The winners get fame and (a reasonable amount of) fortune! And, if we can make it work as a prototype, we will add it to the Squishable line! Are you a plush designer? Cool! Are you an artist who has never touched plush before? Awesome! Give it a try! You can submit as many designs as you want! You might find that toy design is your destiny.

How do I submit a design?
  1. Check out a design template!
We need to see the front, back, and side of your design (both sides if it's asymmetrical!). Designs can be created using any 2D medium but the final version must be submitted as a .JPG. Take a look at a template below for help with how to lay it out, with a white background and multiple views. Be sure to pick the template for your tool of choice. The final file size must be under 10 MB. Looking for design ideas? Check out the animal voting list!
  2. Read the requirements carefully
Before you start brainstoming the perfect character, note that not everything can be made into a plush! A design will be automatically rejected if:

Something's wrong with the art                         Something's wrong with the character

The artwork is not in the right file format - we can accept only .JPG files

The artwork quality is too rough and needs to be polished up a bit

The character is too similar to a current design, retired design, or planned Squishable design

The character is too similar to someone else's copyrighted character

Parts of the character are traced or directly copied from someone else's art
                Something's wrong with the design

The design isn't appropriate for kids (you know what I'm talking about)

The design construction is too complex to do in plush. Plush with too much embroidery or intricate detail can lose its shape

The design has removable parts or bits that could easily be ripped off

The design has too many colors - most good designs try to have four or less
  3. Prepare and submit your design!
Got your idea all set? Then get ready to submit it! First of all, read the full Open Squish FAQ so you know how the process works. Then, once you've made your design, consider submitting it to the Squishable Critique Club to see what your fellow designers think of it. They can give you feedback about how to make it better, or what features to avoid! All set? Then make sure to read and understand the Terms and Conditions. This document contains really important information about your rights as a designer! When you're ready, use the form on the next page to submit! If you have any questions about the Terms, make sure to contact us before you submit! Here are a couple highlights:

    • By submitting a design, you're affirming that it's your own work and no one else's! This means that submitting under a friend's or parent's name is not allowed.
    • You're promising you're over 18! I know, I know, but we'll try to have an under-18 contest soon!
    • We have the right to reject a submission for any reason :(
    • Changes in design and color almost always have to be made to a design's construction and colors to make it work!
    • Be nice! That means being courteous and fair to the other competitors and respecting their artwork.
  4. Voting!
If we think that your design will make a good plush, and if it passes all the requirements, then the Squishy fan community will vote on which designs make it into Squishy squishy round-ness! Tell your friends! Tell your Fans! And don't forget to answer the questions that voters ask you on your design's page! At the end of the round, the highest scorer (who makes it over the minimum scoring threshold) will be sent for prototype!
  5. If your design is prototyped as a 15" Squishable, you get...

    $500 cash!

    $100 gift certificate to!

Your design made into a prototype!

If we add it to the line, your name on the hangtag!
If your design is prototyped as a 7" Squishable, you get...

    $250 cash!

    $50 gift certificate to!

Your design made into a prototype!

If we add it to the line, your name on the hangtag!
