Artist's Description:
Is this creature a koi or a dragon? Both, actually! This was inspired by an ancient legend where a huge school of golden koi kish was attempting to swim up a river, but eventually they came upon a waterfall. Many of the fish were discouraged, and decided not to continue. However, a few of them kept trying and trying. Eventually, one strong and determined fish managed to make it all the way to the top of the waterfall and was transformed into a dragon, the very image of power and strength.
About the Designer:
I have been drawing since before I was in preschool. I also love to design and create things (including my own stuffed animals), so I thought this contest was right up my alley. A lot of my art is Japanese-influenced in some way, because Japanese culture is one of my major interests.
